A MOTORIST who crashed his car into a bus shelter and veered into woodland has been left with serious injuries.
The man, who was driving a Ford Mondeo, crashed near to the A67 junction with the B6275 at Piercebridge, Darlington at around 10.35pm on Saturday night.
He drove into a bus shelter, with the impact causing his car to leave the road and come to a standstill in a wooded area.
The driver was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital. His injuries are serious but not believed to be life threatening.
A front seat passenger was also injured as a result of the crash and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
