A NORTH-EAST construction firm is organising a golf tournament to raise funds for two vital medical charities.

The Wharton Construction Charity Golf Day takes place at Rockliffe Hall, at Hurworth-on-Tees, near Darlington, on Friday, October 6.

Teams of four cost £200, with proceeds going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Prostate Cancer UK.

One of the Wharton Construction directors, Jeff Cutting, has recently been diagnosed with MND and is now campaigning on behalf of the charity, while managing director Peter Wharton has been treated for prostate cancer.

Mr Wharton said: "They are two really important charities and, as a company, we wanted to do our bit to help."

As well as a round on Rockliffe’s superb championship course, the price includes a breakfast roll with tea or coffee, plus a two-course meal in the Grassholme Suite after the golf has been played.
