AN ENERGETIC three-year-old lurcher in a league of his own playing with footballs is in need of a new keeper.

Hector is currently being looked after by canine carers in Dogs Trust Darlington's Sadberge-based rehoming centre where he enjoys playing fetch with footballs, basketballs and tennis balls in return for treats.

The lurcher, who is the rehoming centre's dog of the month, would be happy to live with teenagers and owners who would spend time at home to fuss over Hector as their only pet.

A Dogs Trust Darlington spokesman said: "Hector believes in life being a game of two halves and hopes his second half will include his forever home.

"He always gives 110 ten per cent when trying to impress and make friends,in the hopes he will be in with a shout of being selected.

"If you were to consider Hector you would definitely be playing a blinder – give this boy a chance and he will strike you in the heart and be the best player in your life."
