HUNDREDS of residents and volunteers have pulled together to celebrate their community life with a festival-themed event to kick off the summer holidays.

Firthmoor Live returned to the Darlington neighbourhood with a range of entertainment on offer for families, including live music, fairground rides and a table top market.

A record number of Firthmoor residents took part in the celebrations organised by the Firthmoor and District Community Association to take place around the Firthmoor Community Centre over the weekend.

Darlington Police and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service were on hand to speak to visitors and show off blue light vehicles.

Children were also able to enjoy a range of rides and activities with families being entertained with dance performances, including a routine from youngsters in the Inspire Dance Group and the Kitty Katz and Tomz.

Bands and artists performing on the Firthmoor stage also included Bailey Gascoigne, Hannah Griffiths, Chris Pryke, Charlea B, The Norgaards and Broken Symmetry.
