CHILDREN celebrated their achievements at a graduation ceremony this week.

A ceremony was held at the Majestic Theatre to say farewell to final year pupils at Marchbank Free School.

Wearing caps and gowns, each child was invited on stage to be presented with a certificate from their headteacher, Mandy Southwick.

The pupils were invited to share their memories of their time at the school before outlining their ambitions for their future in front of a packed audience of family and friends.

Cole Dent said he hoped to become a secret agent, adding: "I am most proud of doing my SATS and I am going to miss the food at school."

Following the graduation ceremony, pupils led by the school's band Rockstar Rookies performed a song written especially for the occasion.

A representative from Marchbank, which caters for primary aged children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, said: “It is amazing for the children to be able to enjoy a ceremony like this.

“It’s also overwhelming for our staff to see how far the pupils have come in their time with us."
