IT was all fun and games at the Middleton Hall Retirement Village when they celebrated an annual open day.

Residents, staff and visitors enjoyed a day of art workshops where friendship cards were made, a photography exhibition celebrating coastal nostalgia, and a special visit from four legged therapy animals including some miniature ponies.

The event, part of the 5th annual National Care Home Open Day, had the theme of ‘Friendship and Community Spirit’.

Local residents of Middleton St George and Sadberge were among just some of those invited to the lunch, bringing communities together.

Jan Hargrove, marketing assistant at the Hall, said: “It has been great fun for everyone. It reflects what Middleton Hall is all about, friendship, community spirit and fun. From the smiles captured throughout the day, I think this was achieved.”

Last year’s Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Brian Jones, was presented with a cheque from the company for £5,824.36 to go towards supporting St Teresa’s Hospice, The Samaritans, Breath Easy and the 700 Club.
