WITH the help of the public, a unique eatery could win £6,000 in vital funding.
Darlington’s Café JJ, a charitable enterprise staffed by people with learning difficulties, is appealing for help in securing essential funding from the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
Team JJ are hoping to attract enough public votes to secure a £6,000 grant that will enable them to purchase much-needed kitchen equipment and uniforms.
The café, which has been serving the community for ten years, was set up at the Clifton Community Centre by Val and Joe Hutchinson, whose son John has Down’s Syndrome and is a keen chef.
Last year, the team were given the prestigious Queen’s Voluntary Award for work with the community.
To vote for the cafe visit mcf.org.uk/vote before Monday, July 31.
