THRIFTY fashionistas are needed to create a catwalk collection for an upcoming festival.

Glamorous green will be the trend on the runway at this year’s OxGlam Fashion Show, taking place as part of the Festival of Thrift.

The two day festival – a lively celebration of all things thrifty and recyclable - will return to Redcar’s Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24.

Oxfam Darlington is now looking for creative contributions to its fashion show, with organisers appealing for help from expert sewers in creating “stunning, one-of-a-kind outfits from donated fabrics and other items”.

The catwalk show traditionally showcases unique outfits that prove thrifty can mean stylish, too.

Rachel Parry, store manager from Oxfam Darlington, said: “Looking a million dollars doesn’t have to cost - it’s all about how you style it and how you let your individuality shine through.

“Mixing up your styling with vintage and second hand is a wonderful way to stamp out a unique style and has really taken hold in recent years.”

The fashion show is being organised in partnership with the University of Teesside’s fashion department.
