A BOWLING club has been gifted with a £250 donation to help urgent repairs to its changing huts.

McCarthy and Stone, which is building a development nearby under its Ortus Homes banner, made the donation to Woodland Bowling Club, which provides companionship and exercise to its members, who are mostly 60 or over.

Chris Raynel, Games Secretary at Woodland Bowling Club said: “We’re extremely grateful to McCarthy and Stone for their kind donation of £250 which is a welcome help towards some much-needed remedial works here. We applied for funding earlier this year after reading McCarthy and Stone’s appeal for local organisations to support in the area, and were so pleased to hear that we had been chosen, especially given the urgency of the repairs.

“We have a fantastic facility and we’re always encouraging new members to join and are especially excited to welcome the new homeowners at Emerson Court.”

Liz Green, sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone, commented: “We will look to continue to support the Bowling Club as much as possible and will be encouraging those of our homeowners who are thinking of trying bowls to give it a go.”
