DARLINGTON’s Peter Jameson has today joined South Shields on loan.
The goalkeeper has been out of favour since losing his place to Ed Wilczynski in January.
With the experienced Adam Bartlett having joined this week, Wilczynski will drop to the bench tomorrow when Darlington play at Gainsborough Trinity, and with Jameson considered third-choice manager Martin Gray has agreed to let him leave the club temporarily.
He had been Quakers’ No. 1 since the beginning of the 2014-15 season, playing an integral part of back-to-back promotion-winning seasons.
But a handful of uncharacteristic errors earlier this season as well as a hand injury led to Jameson losing his place in the first-choice XI.
South Shields look highly likely to win promotion from the Ebac Northern League, where they are vying for the title with North Shields, and will finish the season in the FA Vase final at Wembley.
