A TEENAGER is being treated in hospital after being thrown from a motorcycle in Darlington last night.
The 16-year-old boy was a passenger on the bike which collided with a Nissan Micra at 6.40pm on Bramall Lane in Red Hall.
The teenager suffered a serious leg injury and is being treated at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
His injuries are not understood to be life-threatening, whilst the driver of the Nissan suffered whiplash as a result of the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported the teenager was not wearing a helmet and the bike did not have its lights turned on.
A spokesperson for Durham Police said enquiries are continuing to establish the legal owner of the bike.
Deborah Large, a resident in the Red Hall estate, sad incidents involving motorbikes were a “massive issue” in the area.
“It is a big problem that needs addressing – it is happening far too often,” she said.
