THE Darlington Marie Curie Fundraising Group is celebrating its year-long partnership with the town’s Lions Club after receiving a cheque for £1,650.
Denis Pinnegar, as 2015-16 as Lions Club president, had chosen Marie Curie’s fundraising group as his cause for support during his year in office.
Pat Irving, Darlington Marie Curie Fundraising Group chair, said: “ It has been wonderful to have this partnership with the Darlington Lions Club. We would like to thank all the Lions for their fantastic support and fundraising “
The Darlington group raises money locally which goes towards supporting the Rapid Response Service, that operates out of St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.
In total, the Lions have donated £6650 to the charity.
The group meet once a month to organise their own fundraising events and support campaigns like the Blooming Great Tea Party and Great Daffodil Appeal.
Anyone interested in coming along to a meeting or wanting to volunteer can do so by contacting the group by email at darlingtonfundraisinggroup.mariecurie@hotmail.co.uk or the Facebook group @mariecuriedarlo
