ANOTHER generous donation towards funding invaluable Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses has been made by Darlington Lions Club members.

Former Lions Club President for the borough, Denis Pinnegar, presented a cheque to Darlington’s Marie Curie branch for £1,650 after fundraising at the club’s annual craft fair.

The donation contributes to a total of £5,000 generated by Mr Pinnegar during his year as president.

The sum has been passed on to the nurses who provide the town’s Rapid Response Nursing Service after Mr Pinnegar named Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Darlington branch as his chosen charity.

A Darlington Lions Club spokesman said: “Hayley Revell, the community fundraiser for Marie Curie North East, attended the cheque presentation and thanked Mr Pinnegar and the Darlington Lions for their continued and very generous support of her organisation.

“She complimented the Darlington Marie Curie fundraising volunteers for all of their extreme hard work and success each year, including the annual Darlington Daffodil Appeal, which will take place on High Row, Darlington, on Saturday, March 4.”
