MEMORIES of lost loved ones have helped to raise hundreds for hospices.
Throughout every festive period, remembrance trees are erected by staff at Whitehouse Funeral Service in their reception areas.
Families are invited to write messages in remembrance of their loved ones and hang them from the trees.
Their memories have helped to raise £300 for Darlington’s St Teresa’s Hospice and £250 for the Butterwick Hospice.
Julie Whitehouse, from the Whitehouse Funeral Service, said: “We are always amazed at the response.
“Some families come back year after year to put tags on the trees and often want to donate to a charity.
“For several years now, we have decided to support our local hospices.
“The bulk of this money was raised from the trees in our receptions at our Darlington and Newton Aycliffe branches.
“Some was added by our Sharing Together group, to round it up to a nice sum.”
The service’s Sharing Together group works with volunteers to support good causes..
