HELP the homeless this Christmas, is the message from a Darlington man.
Stewart Burton is urging the town’s residents to join him in donating to people who may be without a home this winter.
He has organised a drop-in day at Red Hall Community Centre and hopes to collect donations of food and clothes to pass on to those in need.
Mr Burton said: “It’s difficult to ignore someone sitting on the freezing floor holding out a hand for money but most do.
“Some look at the homeless in disgust, not knowing why they are in that situation and I find that difficult to comprehend.
“Yes, some are there due to mistakes they’ve made or bad choices or even as a con but how do we know the truth?
“While most Brits will be sat at home with their families this Christmas, giving gifts and eating good food, many others will be outside in the cold, alone with nothing to eat or drink.
“It doesn’t take much to give just a little towards making their Christmas easier to bear.”
Donations of food and clothes can be dropped off from 6.30pm on Tuesday, December 20.
