CREATIVE students have turned their talents to a Christmas card competition.

A colourful robin perching on a Christmas tree will feature on cards sent out on behalf of Darlington’s Hummersknott Academy this year.

The eye-catching cards were designed by year ten student Eva Tang as part of the school’s annual competition.

Pupils rose to the challenge of creating a card featuring a traditional British Christmas scene, with Eva’s proving the winning design.

A digital illustration from year ten student Samantha Horn took second place while Dhiya Siddiqui, in year seven, produced an intricate traditional festive scene.

Helen Mason, subject leader for Art and Design said response to the competition had been fantastic.

She added: “I am delighted so many students took part in the competition.

“The standard was particularly high this year but Eva is the deserving winner.

“It is a great experience for a student to see their design turned into a finished object.”
