A SPECIAL talk will highlighting the stories of local soldiers whose names are immortalised on one of Darlington’s war memorials.

Historian Anthony Magrys has carried out research into the 15 names on the Eastbourne First World War Memorial, which can now be found in St Herbert’s Church, in Yarm Road.

He will be discussing details of what he has learned about the soldiers who died during a special talk at Crown Street Library on November, 3 at 2pm.

Places must be booked in advance and tickets are £2, with all proceeds going to this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Mandy Fay, senior library officer, said: “The talk will offer an insight into the lives of some of those who died and will help raise money for this year’s Poppy Appeal.”

To book a place, call 01325-349630, or visit the library’s Centre for Local Studies.
