AN arts group and sign maker have teamed up to smarten up two bridges in the largest park in Darlington.

Tees Valley Arts and Signs Express collaborated on the project to bring a splash of colour to the bridges in South Park.

The arts organisation has been working with Vicky Holbrough, who has over 15 years’ experience working across the North East and specialising in drawing, print making and sculpture.

And to bring her design to life she called on the expertise of the Darlington-based company to produce the public art.

The bridges are part of a heritage trail that meanders through the park and the artwork has been inspired by the wildlife of the North-East’s rivers.

The artist said: “Working to create a piece of art for public spaces is often not straightforward and the work has to meet the needs of the brief as well as being sensitive to the environment and site conditions, all of which Signs Express has considered in their approach.”

The work is part of a project to reconnect people with the River Tees in the area.
