AN APPEAL for donations of food has been made by a group helping refugees and asylum seekers in Darlington.
Darlington Assistance for Refugees (DAR) is requesting donations of food items including dried rice, pasta, lentils and chickpeas as well as plain flour, cooking oil, sugar, tea and coffee.
Soap, razors, sanitary towels, shampoo, tea towels and cleaning products would also be appreciated.
A DAR representative said: “We have been informed that there is likely to be an imminent arrival of asylum seekers to Darlington - they will have £5 a day to survive on.
“Although we are aware of the foodbanks in Darlington we are also aware of the restrictions placed on asylum seekers in accessing such services.”
Anyone who can help can contact DAR by emailing darhelp@outlook.com.
