CYCLISTS can take advantage of free check-ups at an up and coming ‘Cyclists Sunday’ event.

Darlington Cycle Restoration Club will be at the event organised by St John’s Church, in Low Dinsdale, next weekend on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

Refreshments will also be available at the church which is next to the the hugely popular National Route through Low Dinsdale.

The restoration club will offer check-ups while cyclists rest their feet and enjoy fresh lemonade made by the village children served on the village green.

Other refreshments will include tea, coffee, and Norwegian waffles which will be available at the church itself.

Sale of the refreshments will help boost funds for the village’s church tower fund.

Paul Weightman, who has organised the event with neighbours and friends said he hopes as many people as possible will turn out in support.

He said: “We hope people will learn about this beautiful area from Saxon through Anglo Scandinavian and Victorian times up to the current day.”
