A DEDICATED group of teenagers have given a new lease of life to a Darlington charity shop.
The MIND shop on Bondgate was transformed by a dozen 16-year-olds this week.
As part of the National Citizens Service (NCS) scheme, the group lent a hand to staff and volunteers at the shop.
As well as giving parts of the site a new lick of paint, they helped to clear a storage area, clean up rubbish and worked in the shop, where proceeds to towards helping those with mental health issues.
They celebrated their efforts by inviting friends and family to a fundraising coffee morning, held at the shop on Tuesday, August 23.
Team leader Charlotte Withrington said: “It’s been really enjoyable working with such a lovely bunch of young people.
“It has surprised some that it’s been done by a group of 16-year-olds as that age group gets a bad reputation.
“They wanted to help MIND because they feel that mental health is a really important issue to raise awareness of.”
The coffee morning raised £260.63.
