DARLINGTON’S Mayor and mayoress embraced the biker spirit to celebrate the finale of the town’s Summer Market Family Fun Days.
The week of events, organised by Darlington Council’s markets events team, saw a host of attractions take place in the town centre and Market Square over the course of a week.
Mayor Brian Jones, and Mayoress Doris Jones, joined in a motorbike show on High Row to chat to bikers and even climbed on a trike for size.
The event marked the finale of the Summer Market Family Fun Days which were hailed a huge success.
Mayor Jones presented prizes for the most impressive machines at the display and the popular Alex Fawcett Band provided music and entertainment at the family event.
The display was supported by motorbike aficionados from the Knucke Eddz Motorcycle Club who gave a bike display and helped judge the vehicles.
Any funds raised during the show will be donated to Make A Wish Foundation.
The Family Fun Days, which took place from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 August 14, were set against a backdrop of specialist stalls which lined the streets, as well as a mini food festival on Joseph Pease Place.
The fun began with the GOLD tea dance in market square, where visitors had the chance to take their partners for a spin and enjoy live music alongside traditional tea and scones.
Meanwhile, summer was definitely in the air throughout the weekend as a pop up beach appeared in the market square. The sand, fairground rides and holiday atmosphere were enjoyed by kids and adults alike, bringing a little piece of the seaside to Darlington.
