DARLINGTON Building Society is supporting a cultural music event to enable it to return the town later this year.
Oxjam Darlo is a one-day music festival which promotes home grown artists and takes place in more than ten venues across Darlington.
Oxjam is a national initiative and is returning to Darlington for the third consecutive year.
The Darlington festival has raised more than £15,000 in its last two Oxjam events, all of which was donated to national charity Oxfam.
This year, Darlington Building Society has donated £1,000 to the event’s marketing costs and is the main sponsor.
As part of the Society’s 160th birthday pledges it is aiming to help raise £160,000 to local causes and promoting volunteering across the region, making Oxjam the perfect partner as it is run entirely by volunteers.
Chris Jenkins, organiser of Oxjam Darlo, said: “I cannot thank Darlington Building Society enough for its donation and support in organising the next Oxjam festival.”
The first Oxjam music event is a Ceilidh at the Holy Family Parish Centre on Prior Street on September 3, at 7pm.
