FAMILIES are invited along to South Park this Sunday to take part in the second annual Includefest.

The free event will see a host of attractions at the park between 11am and 3.30pm, with an emphasis on inclusivity.

Festival producer Martin Wilson explains: “We want this to be a fully inclusive family arts festival for children with disabilities and without disabilities - everyone is welcome.

“We have so many activities going on, from crafts like mask-making through to a programme of live theatre and music.

“With the weather forecast promising, we are really looking forward to a great day with a warm and friendly atmosphere.”

Includefest is organised by the Durham-based Tin Arts inclusive dance and arts organisation.

A similar event has been held in Durham for several years, and last year the team decided to branch out in to Darlington.

The first Darlington Includefest was a hit, prompting its return to the town for a second outing.

The idea behind the event is to ensure disabled people are included in the arts, but the festival is open to all.

Mr Wilson added: “We are really keen for as many young people and their families to join us making and doing things and taking part - Includefest is a really inclusive space in the park.

The event kicks off at 11am with ‘the big blow off’ where attendees are invited to take part in a mass bubble blowing spectacular.

A host of free arts and crafts events will then be on offer.
