FUNDRAISERS at a retirement village have raised another £3,000 for a leading dementia charity.

A cheque for £3,070 has been handed over to the Alzheimer’s Society, bringing the total amount raised by Middleton Hall, Darlington, for the charity to just under £15,000.

Jenny Leeming, dementia support worker at the charity, said: “Middleton Hall has been absolutely outstanding throughout our partnership, and has raised an amazing amount.

“It’s heart-warming to see so many people brought together to support the Alzheimer’s Society and be united in the fight against dementia.”

The retirement village has recently implemented a scheme known as The Herbert Protocol that encourages carers, family and friends to provide and put together useful information, which can then be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing.

The scheme is designed to help those caring for someone with dementia and to make sure that in the event a person going missing, the police can gain access to essential information promptly.

Debby Lamont, head of care and quality at Middleton Hall, said: “At Middleton Hall, we are delighted to be working closely with the Alzheimer’s Society and the local Darlington Dementia Alliance team to raise the awareness of dementia.

“Great results are being achieved making our local communities and town more dementia friendly."
