PROLIFIC jazz musicians will be setting the rhythm for Darlington music lovers after festival organisers secured a “real coup” for the town’s music scene.

The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) will be bringing its acclaimed beat to the town for the first time in its 50-year history.

The NYJO will be the headline act of the Darlington Jazz Festival on Monday, July 4, when the talented artists make their Darlington debut from 7pm.

Shaune Eland, of Darlington Jazz Festival, said: “This is a real coup for the town to have such a talented group of young musicians performing at Central Hall.

“The festival team have worked hard over the past five years to bring established jazz artists to stage and this is our biggest project to date.”

Musicians from the Durham Music Service will be performing alongside the band as part of the Durham County Youth Big Band and NYJO’s second partnership together.
