A DOG rehoming charity is appealing to North-East residents to consider fostering a ‘golden oldie’.

Dogs Trust Darlington is calling on local dog lovers to help older homeless hounds in need of a little extra TLC and a comfy sofa, by providing them with a temporary home whilst they wait for their forever home.

Many of the rehoming centre’s foster dogs are older canines who have enjoyed living in their ideal home all their lives, but for a range of reasons and through no fault of their own, find themselves homeless and missing their home comforts.

Lorin Shepherdson, foster care coordinator at Dogs Trust Darlington, said: “We love dogs who are a little older to be fostered so they can continue to enjoy the comfort of a home environment.

“Our foster carers offer a lifeline for older dogs or those that don’t enjoy kennel life or just need a little extra care.”
