WANNABE football freestylers have been showing off their skills in Darlington town centre in support of a wounded veteran’s charity.

The Northern Echo’s #KeepItUpForEngland campaign arrived at Joseph Pease Place today (Monday, May 30) with plenty of 'keepy uppy tekkers' taking on the challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The fundraiser, which has already received the backing of Darlington FC manager, Martin Grey, Top Gear’s Chris Evans, and Olympian Steve Cram, aims to capture the best and funniest North-East freestyle footballers on camera.

And plenty of the town’s local talent have pledged their support in Darlington after performing their prowess in front of bank holiday shoppers.

Burts Carpets were also involved in the action after the Darlington business donated a section of artificial turf to the cause to help the town’s #KeepItUpForEngland stars feel like they were on the pitch.

Leaflets on how to submit a video to be in with a chance of winning one of two £150 Love2Shop vouchers were also handed out on the day.
