NURSERY children are all smiles after learning how to look after their teeth as part of one charity’s awareness month.

Youngsters at Borough Road Nursery School, in Darlington’s town centre, were visited by Victoria Dental Practice to encourage children to take care of their teeth for the Oral Health Foundation’s smile month.

Dentist, Helen Holguin, was on hand during the visit to make sure the three to four-year-old’s were keen to visit the dentists in the future after dressing up as practitioners.

The session is hoped to stem the flow of children forced to have their teeth removed due to decay.

Julia Thompson, Borough Road Nursery’s headteacher, said: “It important that we all ensure the children in our care have the education and resources to look after their teeth and have confidence to see a dentist.

“A happy smile is so important for our everyday lives – smiling, talking, eating and giving confidence.

“It was great fun with Helen and we will continue to find new and interesting ways to engage with the children, through such visits and activities.”
