POLICE have re-opened a stretch of the A167 close to Coatham Mundeville, in Darlington.
The road was blocked in both directions at around 5pm on Thursday, which restricted access to the A1 and Newton Aycliffe.
Witnesses reported that four fire engines attended the scene and the roof had been removed from one car to extract its driver.
Police displayed an accident notice on the road, close to The White Horse pub, until the accident was cleared at around 5.30pm.
A diversion was set up to take motorists along Burtree Lane and the A1.
