AFTER a year of official engagements, events, speeches and functions, Darlington’s Mayor has finally put his feet up.

Councillor Tom Nutt received a well-earned treatment after he officially opened the town’s newest chiropody clinic which aims to deliver specialist services that were previously only available in Leeds.

The Foot Clinic welcomed its first customer after opening its doors in Darlington’s Morton Park last week, with footfall expected to increase in the coming months.

Cllr Nutt was joined by Mayoress Gill Nutt for the ceremonial ribbon cutting which marks one of the final engagements that the Mayor will attend before leaving office later this month.

And the official opening of the clinic will see advanced fungal nail treatments being offered in Darlington for the first time after sufferers were previously forced to travel to other counties for similar assessments.

The Foot Clinic’s Ben Hay, said: “The Foot Clinic is the first chiropody clinic to bring such fungal nail treatment to the Tees Valley.

“Meaning people will no longer have to travel to Leeds to access this development in treating the condition that can blight people’s lives.

“We are also bringing – for the first time to Darlington – temporary toe nail reconstruction.

“People who have lost or damaged their toe nails can be self-conscious, so as we approach sandal wearing season, it’s well-timed.”
