MEMBERS of one gymnastics club are doing somersaults over a £500 cash injection to be spent on specialist gymnastic equipment.

The Darlington Gymnastics Club have received the donation as part of The Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank’s employee volunteer grant programme, designed to financially support not-for-profit community organisations.

And the club, based in the Faverdale Industrial Estate, hopes to purchase much-needed equipment for the keen Darlington gymnasts aged between two and 20 years old.

The grant was provided after an eligible bank employee active within the club applied for the scheme that funds out-of-work pursuits.

Jacqui Atkinson, a Yorkshire Bank community support manager, said: “The Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank employee volunteer grant programme recognises the great community work our employees are involved with outside of the bank’s own extensive volunteering programme.

“Any employee that is involved in a charity or not-for-profit organisation in their own time is eligible to apply for a grant.

“Actively encouraging our employees to become involved in voluntary work within their own community through our grants programme is just one way we can support the valuable contribution they make in helping others.”
