A HIGH profile spa and well-being specialist from Darlington is taking on a lead role in promoting the country’s spa sector throughout 2016.

Liz Holmes, highly regarded for establishing Rockliffe Hall’s spa as one of the best in Europe, is working with well-known names from the spa sector to ensure that the UK has a world-leading role in 2016’s Global Wellness Day.

Ms Holmes, who is now national health and beauty director for Virgin Active Health Clubs nationwide, is the UK’s global ambassador for Global Wellness Day, which is marked in over 70 countries.

Now in its fourth year, the not-for-profit day takes place on June 11 and celebrates wellness and healthy living.

Ms Holmes has already established support from some of the country’s leading venues including the Spa at Ramside Hall in Durham, Virgin Active and Bannatyne’s health clubs.

She said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for spas and health clubs to reach new customers and markets by showcasing what they offer and providing advice relating to health and wellness.

“The North-East and Yorkshire have some of the best spas in the UK and it is a thriving sector, hence we hope that the UK will play a leading role in Global Wellness Day by offering activities for people from all walks of life to get involved in.”
