IN the latest episode of Rent A Cop “fearless” Francis Jones tries to improve his apprentice Luke “Pembo” Pemberton’s marketing skills, protects a woman in fear of domestic violence, and continues to seek out burglars.
The Darlington security specialist, former boxer and committed Christian also fell out with his right-hand woman Rachel, and mused on life in general.
On his raison d’etre: “People know me in Darlington. Fearless is my boxing name – fearless because I’m game as a badger. It takes courage to operate and run a security company when people come to you with problems. God gave me a pair of balls when I was born. You’ve got to use these talents to benefit the community of Darlington.
On the risk to a staff member patrolling outside the home of a woman in fear of domestic violence from her ex, a former boxer: “My officer is not a boxer. My officer’s about 20 stone. If there’s any frisk then… boom… we start the engine and we go. But the car’s got no petrol in so I hope it doesn’t stall.”
After hearing of threats made during the patrol: “I’m not overly happy with you getting bricks thrown at you.”
On training up his apprentice Luke Pemberton: “He tells me he wants to a career so he has got to have action to that. He’s got a have a recipe. Pembo needs to learn how to bake a cake.”
On his attitude to trying to reform young burglars caught in the act: “I told them come to church on Sunday then I won’t ring the police. But he never showed up.”
