A NEW motorcycle club has formed in Darlington and intends to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities.

The Knuckle Eddz MCC (Motorcycle Club) now meets fortnightly on Wednesdays at the Dog Inn, Heighington, and will stage regular social events and ride-outs for Darlington bikers.

Rich Peat, one of seven founder members, said that Darlington lacked a vibrant biker social scene and he hoped that Knuckle Eddz could help change that.

He added: “A lot of people can be wary about bikers but we are just normal people, and I don’t think people realise just how much charity work bikers do.

“We are open to everybody, no matter what you ride.”

The club has links to the popular Darlington biker Jungle and helped with the Jungle Memorial Ride to Tan Hill, North Yorkshire.

Members will continue to work with Jungle’s daughter Nichola Jinks Preston to raise funds for the Jungle Fund which distributes cash to good causes across the region.

Mr Peat said the club will also choose its own local good causes and charities to support.

All are welcome to attend the fortnightly meetings, with the next being on October 21 at The Dog Inn from 7pm to 9pm.
