A PROPERTY agency in Darlington has boosted a cancer charity’s funds by tens of thousands of pounds.
Since 2008 Venture Properties, which has an office on Darlington’s Duke Street, has organised dozens of fundraising events for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Most recently it took part in the charity’s national ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ campaign and went a step further by taking their activities out onto the street to encourage passersby to donate to the cause.
Two staff members also completed the Great North Run for the charity and Venture’s efforts have raised £3,600 for Macmillan this year, contributing to a running total of more than £13,000 since 2008.
Michelle Muir, Macmillan fundraising manager for County Durham, said: “We solely rely on donations from events like this, and the support that Venture has given is so important, it costs £27 to fund a Macmillan nurse for an hour, so they have funded 481 hours.”
