EMERGENCY services were called to a single car accident on Elstob Lane, north of Great Stainton, near Darlington on Wednesday.
Ambulance and police helped the driver of the Volkswagen Fox after the incident at about 3pm.
The road was closed in both directions between the Lodge Lane junction and the Elstob junction for a time, but was reopened at about 4.25pm.
A Durham police spokesman said: “Emergency services are at the scene but it is too early to tell the severity of the driver’s injuries.”
