MOTORISTS can expect disruption when a resurfacing scheme begins on the A66.

The work between Little Burdon, Darlington and Long Newton, near Stockton, begins on October 19 and will mean overnight road closures between 8pm and 6am.

While the westbound carriageway is closed, drivers will be able to use a single lane of the eastbound carriageway as a contraflow system will be put in place.

The reverse will be true during the eastbound closures.

The details are expected to be confirmed shortly by the Highways Agency, which is overseeing the work.

It is expected to continue until the end of January.
