A PAIR of loyal volunteers have had their dedication recognised by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Christine Cook, who is honorary treasurer of Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Branch, received the RNLI’s Silver Medal for her 16 years of service.

She said: "It’s nice to receive personal thanks for my time at Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Branch and it reflects on all the good work and commitment of all the volunteer crew members, fundraisers and officials at Hartlepool lifeboat station."

Ruth McGlen, who has volunteered with Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Branch, received the RNLI’s Certificate of Thanks in recognition of her eight years service.

She said: "It’s nice to receive recognition of this kind."

Beryl Sherry, chairwoman of Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Branch, praised their dedication.

She said: "Christine is a great asset to the Enterprise Branch and is meticulous in her book keeping and in all her time with us hasn’t put a foot wrong.

"It’s good that Ruth has received recognition for her hard work. We can always rely on her to turn up at events. She will go anywhere and do anything to help raise money so the RNLI can help save lives at sea."

Operations manager Mike Craddy added: "Both awards are richly deserved and I would like to offer congratulations on behalf of all volunteer crew members and officials at Hartlepool RNLI."
