EACH month The Northern Echo highlights one of the many dogs looking for a home at the Dogs Trust Darlington, in Sadberge, near Darlington.

Cyril is a two year old German Shepherd who sadly arrived at the Dogs Trust Darlington rehoming centre earlier this year after being found abandoned.

Since arriving at the centre, canine trainer Trisha Matthews has taken him under her experienced wing and has been working hard to implement many training techniques.

Trisha has found Cyril to be a very energetic and keen pupil who loves to learn lots of new tricks and to show them off; he is currently being taught touch and target points and how to be obedient by staying on his mat when asked.

In return Cyril receives lots of tasty treats and cuddles as a well deserved reward.

Cyril’s training helps to keep him stimulated, focused and calmer and Dogs Trust staff hope that his new owners will continue to keep working on this in his new home.

Cyril’s ideal home would be living in an adult only environment and he would prefer to be the only dog in the household as he can be unsure at times.

He would benefit by being adopted by someone who has experience of caring for an energetic and intelligent dog.

Cyril’s new home would need an outdoor space where he could burn off his boundless energy and perform his array of tricks.

If you think you could give Cyril the home he has been working hard for, visit the Dogs Trust Darlington at Hill House Farm, Sadberge.

The centre is open Thursday to Tuesday noon to 4pm and closed on Wednesdays.
