A CHARITY Thai boxing night is taking place at Rockliffe Hall next month with the aim of raising thousands for a Darlington Hospice.

The event, on September 18, will include a raffle with top prizes expected to rake in the money for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.

It has been organised by the Darlington Boxing and Martial Arts Academy in memory of Darlington taxi firm owner Peter Crang who died from cancer in March last year.

Mr Crang received care from St Teresa’s and from the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation before his death and his family pledged to honour his memory by raising money for each cause.

They organised a charity tournament for the Bobby Robson Foundation which raised £2,500 and this year is the turn of the hospice to benefit from a similar event.

On the night the boxers will battle it out for the Peter Crang Memorial Trophy and organisers are expecting some high profile guests to attend the evening.
