DEDICATED dancers from Darlington who were chosen to perform at DisneyLand Paris have achieved their dream.

The 24 young dancers from the Seven Performance Company based on Wooler Street found out in April that their DisneyLand audition was a success and since then they have worked hard to raise the £3,000 needed to fund the trip as well as working on their performance piece.

The dancers, aged between 11 and 25, carried out a sponsored walk, car-boot sale, family fun-day, car-wash, bucket shake and a bag-pack at Morrisons, as well as receiving support from their families and local businesses.

Their hard work has meant that they will leave Darlington for Paris on Saturday morning (July 25) to take part in a DisneyLand show.

The dancers will be given a day to enjoy the theme park before performing their production piece on Monday.

They will return to Darlington by coach, arriving home on Tuesday evening.

A spokesman for the group said: “Seven Performance Company has expanded rapidly in the last year and taken on numerous challenges which keep our young people committed, enthusiastic and passionate about their dance abilities.

“Opportunities such as this would not happen without the dedication and hard work of the company’s director Lisa Riley.”
