SHERLOCK Holmes and Jack the Ripper will tread the boards together this week.

The infamous murderer and history’s greatest fictional detective will cross paths in a production being staged at Darlington Civic Theatre.

Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Mystery will introduce audiences to a host of contemporary conspiracies in a modern take on the mysteries surrounding the intriguing Victorian figures.

The cast includes several former soap actors including London’s Burning and Brookside actress Kim Taylforth and former Holby City star Neil Roberts.

Mr Roberts said: “There’s a lot of comedy within the show which allows for an interesting take on the traditional depiction of Arthur Conan Doyle’s infamous protagonist and helps alleviate some of the tension created.”

Part of the Civic Theatre’s Summer Thriller season, the play will run until Saturday, July 11. Tickets range from £12.60 to £20.
