FRIENDS of a popular woman who lost her battle against cancer have raised hundreds for charity in her memory.
Angela Gourley was a regular face at the workingmen’s club, in Northgate, Darlington, and organised countless fundraising events, raising thousands for charity.
The 45-year-old died in October last year following a lengthy battle with cancer.
As a tribute, Mrs Gourley's friends at the club held a fundraising day in April raising £1,045 for the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust in her memory.
Club president Stan Summers said: “The lads and lasses did a marvellous job on the day. If she is looking down on us I hope she is thinking ‘good, they have carried on where I left off.’
“For years she raised thousands of pounds for charity. When she died, it was very sad for everybody in the club. She was wonderful, a real bubbly girl.
“When she was diagnosed she just accepted it and got on with life. She will be very sadly missed by the lads in the club.”
