DOZENS of floral tributes have been left at the scene where a popular teenager died in a car crash.

Budding strongman and “gentle giant” Tyrone Singh, from Darlington, lost his life when the silver Hyundai Getz he was driving collided with a barrier on the A66 between Darlington and Stockton.

Flowers, teddies, and balloons have been left at the crash site, as well as a jumper from Pure Clean Car Care, where he worked as a valeter.

Messages from his friends and family were also left at the scene. One read: “Inspiration to everyone and will be sadly missed. Didn’t deserve this one bit.”

Another read: "RIP Tyrone, you’ll never be forgotten. Always in our hearts.”

As a tribute to the 18-year-old, a strongman competition will be held at 3D Strength Gym, in Coleridge Gardens, Darlington, on Sunday.

The event will also feature a raffle, food and drink, and tug-of-war competition between Tyrone's family and friends.

All are welcome to attend.

The accident happened at around 12.15am on Wednesday morning.

Anyone who saw the car prior to the collision or witnessed the incident should call PC Paul Dixon, from the Cleveland and Durham specialist operation unit on 101, quoting reference CVP15-062038.
