A REMEMBRANCE service for tragic teens Kyle Hull and Tyrone Singh from Darlington was conducted twice because of unprecedented mourners.

Hundreds of people packed St Columba’s Church yesterday (Wednesday, April 15) to pay their respects to the popular pair.

More than 300 people attended a formal service held to remember the friends who lost their lives just days apart.

The moving service was conducted twice in a bid to accommodate the unprecedented number of mourners, who were unable to fit into the church.

The massive outpouring of support reflected the shocking impact of the youngsters’ deaths on Darlington’s close-knit community.

Kyle Hull, 14, died on Sunday, five days after falling through the roof of Darlington Auction Mart.

Budding strongman and “gentle giant” Tyrone Singh, 18, lost his life in a car accident in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The deaths were made all the more tragic with the news that the pair had been friends – Mr Singh’s final Facebook page being a poignant tribute to Kyle.

The remembrance service saw friends and family invited to light candles, write in books of condolence and share memories of the young men.

Martin Stand, project director of Darlington Area Churches Youth Ministry, said: “It was a moving time of remembrance of two young lives taken too soon.

“The sheer number of people who joined together simply highlights the strength of this community as they support the families of Kyle and Tyrone.

“It was humbling to support St Columba’s in serving young people and the wider neighbourhood.”
