A MAN who was only six months away from the end of a three-year driving ban admitted to driving while disqualified, a court heard yesterday.
Michael Wayne Green, 35, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at Darlington Magistrates' Court.
The court heard that Green was stopped by a police officer in Commercial Street, Darlington, on March 5.
Green, of Haughton Road, Darlington, had served two-and-a-half years of a three-year ban imposed in October 2004 for drink-driving.
If he had taken a rehabilitation course for drink-drivers, which was offered by the court, he would have completed his ban at the time of this month's offence, the court heard.
Michael Rayner, mitigating, said Green had a job interview and had to pick up his children from Albert Hill on the same day and the only way this was possible was by car.
The case was adjourned until April 10 for a pre-sentence report
