A POPULAR junior run is being revived after a three-year absence.

The 3k Junior Run has been missing from the annual 10K Darlington Road Run event for the last three years but it is now being re-introduced thanks to a five-year sponsorship package with the NHS Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

It is open to young people aged eight to 14-years-old, and will be staged before the start of the Sherwoods Vauxhall Darlington 10K Road Run, on Sunday, August 9.

Darlington CCG chief officer, Martin Phillips, said: “Being healthy should be fun and we would encourage as many young people as possible to come along on August 9 and be inspired to get healthy and live an active lifestyle.”

The run will be delivered by the council’s events team in partnership with the newly formed Darlington Move More Team, supported by school games organiser, Alison Raw.

The Move More team will be working alongside local schools, clubs and community groups to increase participation at the event.

There will be prizes for the top three male and female winners in their age categorises, and souvenir t-shirts for all the entrants.

There is a separate entry form for the junior 3K and you can also apply online; visit www.healthydarlington.co.uk/10k and follow the links to the junior 3k.
