MOWDEN Park rugby club has announced Help for Heroes as its charitable event partner for the upcoming England Women's matches in Darlington.

On March 13 The Northern Echo Arena will host an international double header when the England Under 20s take on Scotland Under 20s before the senior teams take to the field.

Help for Heroes has been chosen as the charity partner for the event and has been an ongoing supporter of the role sport plays in the recovery process of the country’s wounded.

It has been involved with the rugby community since 2008 when the first charity rugby game was held at Twickenham.

Mo Usman, manager of Help for Heroes Northern Recovery Centre, Phoenix House at Catterick, said he was thrilled that the charity was set to benefit from such a high profile event in the region.

He said: “For Darlington Mowden Park to have attracted two international rugby matches to the arena is a fantastic achievement and we are hugely grateful that they have offered Help for Heroes the opportunity to be involved.

“It’s a great fit because sport, of all kinds, plays a vital part in the recovery of many of our wounded, injured and sick servicemen, women and veterans, building resilience in body, mind and spirit.”

Lee Rust, Mowden Park managing director, added: ‘’We are delighted to have agreed the partnership.

“Help for Heroes represents a fantastic cause that we are proud to support and be associated with.”

Tickets for the International Double Header are on sale from the Arena on 01325 350267.

They cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
