AN Olivier Award-winning play is to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a new production, appearing at Darlington Civic Theatre this week.
Return to the Forbidden Planet, a musical inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, tells the story of a journey into hyperspace where the crew, led by Captain Tempest are drawn mysteriously to the planet D’Illyria where they meet mad scientist Doctor Prospero and his daughter Miranda.
The touring production is packed with rock ‘n’ roll classics including Heard It Through the Grapevine, Young Girl and Gloria.
A theatre spokesman said: "With stunning special effects and a brilliant cast of actor musicians, this is the great night out to remember! Bring everyone... dress up fancy and get ready for blast off."
Return To The Forbidden Planet runs at Darlington Civic Theatre each night until Saturday, March 7. Tickets are priced from £19.
